PETER WICKENDEN
"My work grows out of a need to feel connected to the world around me and my deepest sense of self. I've spent a good deal of time isolated from others and my work is a way for me to not only bridge that gap but to develop a genuine dialogue with the creative process itself.
I have struggled with depression my whole life as well as mental and emotional disorders. The spontaneous and intuitive process of making art is for me a powerful way of confronting my personal demons, irrational fears and distorted thinking. My work does not arise from the intellect but rather an expression of my heart, spirit, emotional life and subconscious mind. My work is a way of uncovering order and diversity in what can appear and feel to be chaotic and frightening."
